Why can't we see it?
Actually, some people can. However, for most, light that can be seen by the human eye constitutes only about 2.3% of the whole electromagnetic spectrum on a logarithmic scale of frequency (and only about 0.0035% on a linear scale).
Nevertheless, energy we cannot see--like X-rays and gamma rays--still exists, and can appear magical until the science is invented to enable us to understand, or 'see,' it. Chicken cooking in a microwave oven can look like magic--but that doesn't stop people from believing in, or using, microwave ovens. |
The Electromagnetic Spectrum and Visible Light |
Before we understand energy fields we can't see, we are still able to comprehend the results. In 1895, Wilhelm Roentgent discovered the effects--and thus theorized the existence--of X-rays, although the mechanism of how X-rays were produced was not yet understood. Working backwards from X-ray and other theories, it took Marie Curie to explain the phenomenon.
In fact, comprehension of the results led to the science that allowed us to understand it and create images that represent it, like the one above.
Microwaves are another great example of working backward from theory to scientific understanding and use.
Microwaves were first predicted, or theorized, in 1864, but it took another hundred years for the first (750 pound!) microwave oven to prove and use the theory. As another example, try seeing radio or TV waves, or the Internet for that matter.
Energy medicine is no different. Whether or not science ever catches up with this type of energy and enables us to understand and 'see' it, the results have continued to speak for themselves for thousands of years.
